Congratulations to our faculty Extra Mile Award winners.

On Thursday July 10 at the end of semester faculty meeting the following staff were recognized for their  outstanding performance. 

Hiranya Anderson
Department of Linguistics

For exemplary effort in the categories of customer service, safety and innovation. Hiranya has a positive, cheerful 'can do' attitude with staff, students and visitors.  For recognition of her support to the department and for her efforts with the sustainability challenge.Helen Little

Helen Little 

For exemplary effort and team work in Helen's outstanding commitment to the ongoing quality and development of degree programs in the department.  In her role of Director of Learning and Teaching, she has overseen the accreditation of three undergraduate programs ensuring that quality is maintained, without compromising the standard of her other academic work.

For exemplary effort and service to the department.  Owen goes beyond the 'call of duty' time and again, responding to requests from staff quickly, efficiently and courteously.

For exemplary effort and customer service especially in the area of events which she organises with creativity, enthusiasm and military precision!  Anita is generous with her time and many technical skills and is thoughtful and caring with her colleagues.

For outstanding achievements in the development of the new Doctor of Physiotherapy program.  Sherrie's work is always of a very high standard, completed efficiently and enthusiastically with great attention to detail.  Sherrie has been a great support to her colleagues, improved online delivery and developed new online resources which have been very well received by the students.

Paul Sowman
Department of Cognitive Science

Paul Sowman 

For exemplary effort as chair of the committee managing the magnetoencephalograpy (MEG) facility in the Australian Hearing Hub.  The MEG facility comprises three MEG machines and a custom made helium recovery system.  The MEG facility is an extremely complex, demanding and difficult laboratory to maintain and manage.  Paul resolves issues affecting the running of the facility, trains new staff and fosters a collaborative, positive and inclusive atmosphere within the facility. The number of studies being conducted in the MEG facility has more than doubled since he started as chair of the committee. 

Hua-Chen Wang
Department of Cognitive Science

Hua-Chen Wang 

For exemplary effort as teaching development coordinator by developing two new units including all digital iLearn information and adapting these for offering in OUA mode.  Hua-Chen has developed consistent policies, procedures and marking guidelines to be used for these and program development into the future.  Hua-Chen has played a significant role in building the undergraduate teaching program in Cognitive Science.

Doranna Wong
Institute of Early Childhood

For exemplary effort and innovation with the implementation of the OUA program by creating policy and workflow documents to streamline the processes and the working with children checks across multiple Australian jurisdictions.  Doranna has provided tremendous assistance to OUA students, academic staff and the practicum office which is well beyond Doranna's regular responsibilities.

For exemplary effort and customer service to staff and students. The efficiency and reliability of Jane's assistance is appreciated by her colleagues as she regularly goes the extra mile.

For project completion and exemplary service to the department. Regina has supported the department manager with the collation of two accreditation submissions.  Her efficiency in document preparation was invaluable in the delivery of the submissions and on both occasions the department was verbally commended for the quality of the submission.

Jo Comparet 

For exemplary effort and project completion of the new Linguistics website.  The project was complex and demanding.  Jo delivered the new website on time and met the project objectives whilst maintaining ongoing support for other faculty websites.  Throughout the project Jo demonstrated a high level of collaboration, web best practice and professionalism requiring many additional hours of work.
