Research Training Pathway

Macquarie University is the first Australian university to offer a two-year research training pathway program leading to a Master of Research. It offers you a robust set of research skills to carry forward into a PhD in Australia or internationally.

Why Master of Research?

The Faculty of Human Sciences has a unique combination of research strengths in health, education, language, and mind that enable us to answer some of the big questions about what makes us human.

We offer world-class research opportunities with leading researchers in psychology, linguistics, speech and hearing, cognitive science, education and early childhood education.
For domestic students, this program attracts Australian Government funding, packaged as a Bachelor of Philosophy/Master of Research (BPhil/MRes) to meet regulations.

International students will be enrolled in the Master of Research program throughout the two years. In both cases, students who successfully complete the program will be awarded the Master of Research degree.
